Title: Hello from a newbie
Post by: Foxy on April 01, 2012, 04:06:07 PM
Evening,

I'm new here, have just bought a Super Sea Wolf in excellent condition, waiting patiently for the postman to deliver it. I also have a Zodiac-branded Heuer Autavia:

(https://www.vintagezodiacs.com/zforums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi649.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu215%2Ffoxsimon25%2FWatches%2FZodiacAutavia_13s.jpg&hash=4727fd444dd59d8e994649ec0614e7e72ecdb565)

I'm based in the UK and my collection is quite varied but mostly consists of Heuers and Omegas. I really like what I've seen of Zodiacs so far so hopefully I'll be buying one or two more and contributing to the forum.

Cheers,
Foxy

Can you tell me any more about this model? I had assumed that it was made by Heuer, using many of the same components as the Autavia with the only real difference being the name on the dial (and I believe the movement, haven't had the back off it yet). It's listed as a badge-engineered Heuer on On The Dash:

http://www.onthedash.com/poormans.shtml (http://www.onthedash.com/poormans.shtml)

I don't refer to it as a "poor man's Heuer" by the way, despite it costing a fraction of what it would have cost with "Heuer" on the dial. I think I'd struggle to find a Heuer-badged version as nice as this one. Were the component parts supplied to both Heuer and Zodiac or did Zodiac buy the bits from Heuer or?

One other thing, do you know if it would have come with a bracelet and if yes, what it looked like?

Thanks!

Hello. I have the exact same Zodiac/Heuer Chronograph, with the original stainless steel band.  Big "H" links connected by small squares. Very solid and hefty, in a brushed ss finish.

Here are a few pics of my growing collection:

That one on eBay looks in great condition and thank you for the link. There are some very good looking Zodiacs out there, the Buren Chrono in particular.
