Title: Zodiac Red Point Divers Chrono
Post by: 2500M_Sub on July 23, 2018, 01:03:34 PM
Took delivery of a Zodiac Red Point Chrono on Friday, interesting thing is that the case back says 200M. At first I thought it had the wrong caseback but according to the reference number it is correct. My assumption is that maybe it was a later produced model that had improved (crystal, crown, caseback and or gaskets) that pushed the rating up and they didnt want to waste dials so no change there. Will never know for sure since the folks that owned the company when this watch was produced are long gone. Came on a signed bracelet but it is too short and I am a rubber strap guy anyway so now it lives on a Dagaz tropic rubber strap.

Regards,

Ren

It is interesting observation.
I reviewed 7 lots with similar Zodiac chronographs on eBay. All of them rated 100m on dial and case back.

Yeah, very odd, but I am enjoying it and find it cool that I have an anomaly of sorts.

It is a nice watch. Just keep in mind that if you plan to wear it constantly, consider to give it a service (if you don't have service history). This caliber has cannon pinion which tends to got stuck without proper lubrication. As result, setting hands could strip teeth on some wheels.

Good point. Be sure to click on the Watch Repair tab at the top of the page for an explanation.

Nice watch, are the pushers actually screw down?  I once read that they were cosmetic.  Maybe that could be one of the functional differences between this and the 100m versions.
