Title: New addition to the collection
Post by: Dowantwatches on August 20, 2018, 08:55:19 PM
Hi everyone, pretty happy with the latest addition to the collection, the Olympos! Found on the bay, the crystal looked rough but said to be in good working condition. No history. When it came in I was really surprised at how clean it was, the case looked very good with very few marks. I sent it off to Yuriy, he cleaned up the crystal beautifully and confirmed how good its condition really was, did not require any new parts at all. He did his magic on it, and it's purring beautifully! With the crystal off, the dial looked practically new. Grey dial that changes hue ever so slightly when the light hits it. Just got it back today, put a nice Hirsch lizard strap on and I just can't believe how fantastic this watch looks! It could of come right out of the factory! The dial is beautiful, the case is in fabulous condition, and it is just sooo comfortable to wear, it's so light that you can hardly feel it. The curve in the case fits my wrist like a glove, and super thin. The dial is just memorizing! I gotta say, these Vintage Zodiacs are truly wonderful pieces of work. 50 plus years old and still run like they were designed to do, look just as distinctive now as they did when first built, and when people actually stop and ask you "what is that watch you're wearing?" well, that says it all... I'm so happy to now have 3 in the collection. The pictures just don't do it justice...

Nice dial.  I'm a fan of the Olympos as well.  My uncle has a pretty rare Tiffany Rolex Datejust with a very similar dial color.

Let me know if you're interested in a NOS Kreisler Bracelet.  There's a listing on the 'bay right now.  It was OEM on some of the Olympi, though I'm not sure if it was on your particular iteration.  I can PM you the link.  If interested.

Yeah, sure, I'd be interested in looking at that. I like to have a couple of strap options for each watch. Thanks!

Took Cobber's suggestion to pick up this NOS Kreisler bracelet for the Olympos, as shown in some of Zodiac's advertising for the watch. Glad I did, I think it looks pretty good. It fits my 7-1/4 wrist well, is very comfortable and light. This watch is awesome.
The links look a bit stretched in the one photo, but I had just put it on, they are nice and tight now. Thanks Cobber!

Nice, I've always thought Zodiac did a great job pairing the Olympos with that bracelet.  There's a certain synergy to the way the contours of the bracelet and the watch case taper in much the same manner.  Sorry for the late post.  Been out of the country and wasn't able to post anything with my iPhone..., kept getting an error message.

You should always do a screen capture of errors and send them to Sea Wolf. Sorry for the hassles!

Can you tell me more about your watch?  I just picked up one that I think looks like this!

A beautiful watch! The Olympos is underrated by the general vintage watch community - in my opinion its one of the most stunning designs from the period, elegant and dressy and at the same time a stand-out design. I have three gold-plated versions, I would like to get my hands on a steel variant like yours, that has a bit more modern feel to it. Or timeless perhaps.
