Title: Unusual Zodiac watch looking for it's value
Post by: sjs9145 on September 17, 2015, 03:56:14 PM
Hi I am new to this site and hoping someone here can help me. I have a very old Zodiac watch that I believe was my Grandfathers, passed down to my Dad and now to me.

I have looked at thousands of Zodiac watch pictures but this one just is not displayed anywhere I can find.

The watch is white faced, has all numbers on the face (most of what I see is roman numerals online) Zodiac Automatic is printed on the face. The word Automatic is printed (everything I saw online is has Automatic in Script)

The watch case has number 246502

Can anyone tell me how old it is and if it has any value? I would like to have it serviced but only if the value makes it worth the money.

That is a 1950's Rotographic. Looks like the dial has been redone in the past 60 years. Value? $100? Or whatever a buyer is willing to pay.

Thanks you for your reply,

After checking for Rotographic Zodiac watches I notice that they all say Rotographic on the face while mine just says Automatic. Is there something I missed that would tell me it is Rotographic?

My apologies, I forgot you are a neophyte. When I said the dial was redone that means stripped and repainted. To date, no one has ever redone a Zodiac dial correctly.

Actually, looking at the catalogs it COULD be original. I just checked the Catalogs Site and there were ones marked AUTOMATIC before they had Rotographic. When you get it serviced the watchmaker can tell you if the dial was redone.

I forgot to tell you this. As you are the new owner, please review this page.
