Title: zodiac 1361,1624,1769 or 1859. which movement is best
Post by: MrBibbel on August 20, 2012, 11:32:48 PM
I am a new Zodiac collector. Just starting out and only have 3.
Just got my first vintage recently and ended up with more questions about what I should be looking out for.
I am going to buy what I like first and foremost of coarse, but with that in mind, what are the preferences of movements should I be keeping an eye out for. Example...zodiac 1361,1624,1769 or 1859. which movement is best.
I have looked at all of these in my hunt for my next Zodiac.
Is price the indicator ? That is given if the watches are of equal condition.
Please just post, Looking forward to hearing all or your opinions ans preferences...

For the most part those movements are from the older 1950's models, like the Rotographic or Autographic. After those movements came the 7x series, and then the 8x series, and then in the 80's a move to ETA.

In my opinion, any movement is not really better than others, as far as value goes. Some have features others do not, and then there are the movements that have been adjusted for accuracy too.

Just my thoughts. So why are you leaning towards those calibers?

Thank you for your reply.
It's not that I am leaning towards those particular movements, It's more that these are the ones in what I have been considering for purchase.
You see... I have many watches( 20 or so ) and Lately I find that I've been flavoring my Zodiacs. There is just something about them. So I began looking online just to see what I can see.
I want to learn, to read and hear from people like yourself on this forum, what I can to educate myself.
This is just the start. Anyone please, your input and maybe a direction  to continue my learning curve.
Reading, web sites, experienced knowledge.
Thank You all ahead of time.
Now to try and look up these other movements you have mentioned...
