Title: Rescue Zodiac
Post by: noelekal on June 07, 2017, 04:23:02 PM
A victim of an unfortunate Ebay auction listing, it was $15.00 with free shipping so it came to roost here in the "Home For Forsaken Watches" some months back.  Auction description gave a disparaging description that included claims that it ran very slow, but it proves to be a minute or so fast per day.  It behaves as if it wants to serve.

I have no notion of its age, guessing late 1940s/early 1950s.

Perhaps the most unfortunate thing is spending more money than it is worth to rehab it.  Still, for some obscure reason it seems "worth it" to restore the movement.

Excellent purchase. I'm going to say 1950s. The lugs seemed to be more flamboyant in the 1940s. Also the font of the numbers.

Raises a question I've been trying to solve. Don't see anything in the forum archives. What does "Incasecurit" mean in the context of Zodiac watches? I've seen it paired with Hermetic but also Hermetic alone without it. If the model is Hermetic, what does the Incasecurit mean? Marketing term they used?

I'd speculate, Incasecurit means "Incabloc Secured".
Balance pivots shock protection (Incabloc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incabloc_shock_protection_system)) used.

Was there a certain era when they used this term?
