Off to BWG as soon as I get my others back for the full spa treatment. I'll clean the bracelet up tonight.

My thinking is that this is a bakelite bezel?  But is there a way to immediately spot the difference between a bakelite and a plastic bezel insert on the SW?

They are either all metal or have an acrylic insert, not bakealite.
