I am finding some issues in some browsers.  Working on fixing this now.  Will update this thread and issues are solved.
Please post anything you find.

The watch may take some time to load the first time and it may stay in your browser cache.
It really is a small footprint item.  Let me know if it works out or keeps happening?

Thanks

Great job with the site!

I seem to have a problem with time settings. I'm pretty sure I could see my local (Swedish) time in post etc. (although still in am/pm) before, but now I just see GMT-5. Or have I just missed where you set the time?

Thanks!

Can Jon or anyone else confirm that the java clock is being cached in your browser?  I made sure this is working on the server
and in all my browsers, it is working.  This means that when you go to the website, the java clock does not have to download each page view.  That would really cause a delay on page views.  Jon, you may want to check in your browser options to make sure your cache is turned on.

Thanks

SW, help me to understand that. Bouncing back and forth from Home to Watch Repair to Forum tabs causes the clock to go away, then I see either a white or black box, and then the box is replaced with the clock on the new page, when using FF 3.6 or IE8. While not exactly slow, it does take about 3 seconds to repaint the new page and clock.

I do not have images cached yet, just the clock.  Images will be next stage of optimization.
When I usa firefox or chrome, the clock doesn't leave the page when moving from page to page.  It's already
downloaded and in my browser cache, so it does not have to download or load again.  You should be able to open the java preferences
in your browser to see if the clock is cached.  All browsers have the ability to turn on java cache or not.  Maybe IE disables
the java cache by default.  I'll have to test this out on my PC to see the behavior you are seeing.

:ur :wehe   SW--seems to be doing a lot better, when i first log on from my favorites list it takes 9-10 seconds for the clock to load. then once in when i go from section to section it is only 1 second. big improvement, thanks guy!

I went into Control Panel and opened JAVA and then cleared its cache. Seems to have pick up a second but then in bouncing around as described I notice that in the Forum is where it can hang up. For LONG periods. Jon is right, still a long initial load.

I just applied the cache code to the forum clock.  Let me know if you notice any improvement there.

Just turned on gzip compression and other related apache speed optimizers.
Out of the box this stuff is not turned on.  Let me know if you find any improvements.
Thanks

Moving from page to page this morning, across tabs or within the forum, is taking 12 seconds to complete, most of that time is spent on the old page.

Except for coming into this thread (8 seconds) we are averaging 2 second page loads at this time.

I took down the java astro clock.

Still modifying stuff, you'll see a messy display on most browsers for a while while I work on this.

IE8 seems to display the page wrong.  Still trying to work out that bug.

See if you can fix this time issue by going into your profile layout settings and adjusting your time in there.
