Title: My First Zodiac Arrives!
Post by: ianmedium on June 15, 2016, 09:16:36 PM
Thanks to fellow Member Yuriy I am now the proud owner of my first Zodiac wrist watch, a day/date Senator.

The moment I first saw this watch I fell in love with it and now I have it in my hands my appreciation for it has deepened.

I know all of you seasoned Zodiac owners already know this but the thing that surprised me most upon opening the package was how substantial and well made the watch feels.

I own a number of vintage watches including a couple of Omegas and amongst my new watches is a Grand Seiko SBGR061 so I am familiar with what a great quality watch feels like and this is one!

I would actually say it feels and looks better made than both the tuning fork and century vintage Omega's in my collection.

The dial especially is beautiful and the way the applied indices catch the light reminds me of my Grand Seiko.

The cal.76 movement's rotor spins with easy and I love the crisp nature of the date mechanism. All solid engineering.

I know from the Oceanographer I purchased from Yuriy a little while ago this has been serviced beautifully. That Bulova is keeping near Chronometer time!

Thanks for having me here and I hope you like the photos I have taken of this beauty.
A big thanks to Yuriy for such a beautiful watch.

Welcome to the club and I am glad you have a watch you like. I too have one of these but had no idea it was called a Senator. Where did you find this out from? Many Zodiacs (Especially the SST's) just do not have names on them and it drives me crazy that I cannot accurately describe one from another in my collection. I would be interested to learn where you found out the name from. :welc

This line of models mentioned in the catalog with name Senator (begin of 1970th). And here Butch presented his Senator (http://www.vintagezodiacs.com/zforums/index.php/topic,1964.msg12041.html) with the name, printed on the dial.
