Title: Zodiac Chronometer
Post by: Mugea on May 27, 2017, 09:00:51 AM
Landed a complete set: a Zodiac Chronometer, 18K Gold, complete with two boxes and the papers, tags and hanger:

I haven't seen this model on the internet or in any catalog. It's equipped with a Zodiac Caliber 53, what's a Peseux 320. Note also: no "unadjusted" BS, but "7 SEVEN ADJUSTMENTS".  Some lucky guy received this watch from his company in June 1966. Obviously, he did not wear it often. The watch is in next to perfect condition. As there are no watch maker's markings present on the case back, I'm probably the first who opened it.

The watch came with the original and worn strap – I replaced it by a NOS strap, what doesn't seem to match the age, but has a Zodiac marked buckle.

Enjoy! Has anybody seen such a manual wind Chronometer before? Seems to me, the Automatic Chronometers can be seen more often.

Very nice piece. Definitely, it would use a service. Still dry of oil for years...

Don't worry! The watch is already on the way to the watch maker for a service.

Now I have access to the catalogs - I'm impressed! But what's odd: there's no Chronometer Model Number 1810 in it - in the 1961 and 1966 catalogs you'll find the Chronometers #1812, 1813, 1814, 1815, 1816, 1817, 1818 and 1819 - but no #1810.

The #1812 seems to match - but it's #1812 and was priced at $250. Not at $200, like my #1810.

Question: is anybody aware of another #1810?
