Title: Zodiac GMT 24h bezel design
Post by: YuriyV on June 11, 2018, 01:01:38 PM
One customer of mine did interesting observation.
It is impossible to set up a correct hour reading on rotating bezel for Zodiac GMT.
Between 0 and 5 minutes the bezel clicks 5 times. Which is equal 2 hour precision. If we wanted to offset the GMT hand by 1 hour, we would have to rotate the bezel 2.5 times. But it aligns unevenly if we turn it 2 or 3 clicks.
What is design intent in this? Why did they do 60 notches on bezel. 24 is not a prime factor of 60.
Thoughts?

Maybe the wrong bezel on the wrong case?

All GMT bezels have 60 notches inside.

Oh well, just a thought. The only one I have here to test is a metal bezel and I can set it for GMT (-5) time OK. Not really sure it was to be a precision setting though.

Anyone else got a bezel they can test and add to this?
