General Zodiac Discussion / Re: Olympos Mystery Dial Manual Wind
« Last post by Ultra-Vintage on June 07, 2018, 12:45:56 PM »
I have seen the exact same model at least once before.  However, it was in another watchmaker's stock and was pretty trashed so I did not get to look at it well enough to determine its originality.

They did use the Peseux 330 often enough in some of their manual wind dress watches during this time, most of the ones I have had over the years are marked as Zodiac Caliber 55.

What a puzzle!
Never seen Peseux 330 caliber in Olympos. Would love to see how it is integrated with hour disk.
Crown looks completely wrong for Olympos.
In the same time hour disk and minute hand appear correct. No second hand is consistent with design of the caliber. It has sub second.
Case back is right for manual winding mechanism.
Puzzled.

General Zodiac Discussion / Olympos Mystery Dial Manual Wind
« Last post by Scwilcox on June 07, 2018, 10:33:52 AM »
Hi,  Like most of you I have owned thousands of watches and a few Zodiacs over the years.  I am trying to find info on my newest find.  This is an Olympos Mystery Dial with a manual wind movement.  It has no seconds hand and is very thin like an evening watch.  Case back is 2001 inside.  See pics and any info is appreciated,
Scott

I saw this Zodiac on the Internet... / Is it legit?

As a military & vintage watch accumulator for over 20 years, most of my watches are 50 to 100 years old. I like wearing them, but a lot need a good COA service. Good watchmakers have become fewer and much more expensive over the years. It's just not cost effective any longer to have a seldom worn watch serviced.
I never have been a fan of quartz watches, but I needed & wanted an accurate & dependable watch I could pick up and wear with no worry. After much research with my son (an amateur modder), we came up with this. Without pretending to be an original, we incorporated all the best features of watches I like into one .
I've been wearing mine for several months now & love it.

The heart of this watch is in my opinion the best Quartz movement ever made.

I saw this Zodiac on the Internet... / Re: So i bought this Vintage Sea Wolf....

The fonts look right on the dial so I will say not a redial. The fonts for the triangle markers do not look correct so I would say that someone had them redone, probably with new lume. Damned if I can figure out where the lume is though! Maybe they scraped them out and just put new numbers in without new lume? No idea why though!

BWG can have it re-dialed properly though, with lume. Or just the triangles maybe.

Thanks for the large pic, it helped!

Watch Stories / All things come full circle
« Last post by Butch on May 31, 2018, 05:21:37 PM »
A member here that I have known for about 20 years reached out to me this week. He had bought a Sea Wolf from me back in 2002 (or so my spotty records indicate) for his father who was a Vietnam Vet. It seems that his dad had passed this past January and no one in the family wanted the watch due to the painful memories it caused them. So he asked me if I wanted it and of course I said YES! I also promised to share this story of a great watch, a good relationship, and the sorrow felt by another Vet passing.
