What's the purpose of this?
It says Quartz movement, but the movement description and photos look and sound like a mechanical.

I liked the look of that as well.  Would that have been a dealer store display Butch?  The movement is not a true mechanical or a quartz, it is more like an electric movement because it still has a balance wheel, ie the "Spacetronic" Zodiac watches.

That is from the Zodiac Chronotron line, there were 5 models and they ran on a battery (9V  I think). Desk clocks were popular in the 60's. His price is totally asinine though.
Collecting Zodiacs is not for the meek; be an educated collector.
