I just realized, it's been 20 years now

Butch

It just occurred to me that this year makes 20 years of collecting Zodiacs. I bought my 2nd one (the first was for my wife in the 1970's) in 1994. Of course, I reached out to Zodiac (THAT ONE, Monnier's company) to see if they could sell me a part. Of course, like today, they had nothing left from the old company of course.

But unlike today, they at least offered me a 20% off discount on a "new" (1990's) model if I wanted to buy one. So I went and found a local watchmaker to service my 17 jewel manual wind Zodiac dress watch. The watchmaker simply gushed over what a fine movement it was and encouraged me to collect more of the brand. We are still friends today, but he has not serviced my watches in over 15 years as he can make more servicing Rolexes for the local stores.

Well, as they say, the rest is history.

Congratulations on your 20th!  :)

You have at least 5 years on me.

All of your work for promoting the interest in, collecting of, and history preservation of the "true" Zodiac watch company is something to be commended.

I guess that means, that you are truly the "godfather"...... :godfather;

Watch collecting is a slippery slope, isn't it?

It's funny that I also found a local master watchmaker and took my first Zodiac (a Sea Wolf II) to him for a check up, and he turned out to have a bit of a love affair going with Zodiacs, especially the 1960s models.

Anyway, I'm glad you went down that path.  Otherwise, the rest of us Zodiac-philes wouldn't have this site and knowledge base to fall back on.

I got my first Zodiac, a white face Sea Wolf approx 35-36 yrs. ago, which I still have.  So, I guess you could say I've been collecting Zodiacs for about that long.
