Spring bar question

Hi, first time poster here. Have a question on spring bar sizes for a vintage sea wolf. Is the spring bar 17.5mm or 18mm? Or can it be both? Also, does the thickness matter as they vary in sizes (e.g., 1.5 to 2.0 etc)?

I apologize if this question has been asked before. Did a search on the forum and I did not find this particular topic.

Thank you!

:welc to the site!  I can't help with your question but there are a lot of smart folks here that can probably answer your question.  You can also post your question at the "Ask BWG" section of the forum.  BWG is the resident VZ watchmaker.
Good luck in your quest for knowledge; you came to the right place!   :twothumbsup

I have used 17MM and 18MM, either will work.  thickness...? I don't know, but I wouldn't think it matters.
