It's possible that a SeaWolf  of 1963 ref.699 has the dial marked  SwissT<25mc? :helpme

that is a good question, I wish I had an answer. I do know that I have a 1968 black dial with date sea wolf that I bought new. its dial is NOT marked this way. I believe that marking came on in the maybe mid 1970s.maybe someone else will jump in, my Zodiac knowledge is not that great. :nosmily

Can you post a pic of your watch? I presume it is your watch.

The Swiss watch industry started using Tritium in 1963, but, I do not think that Zodiac switched over until the very late 60's or even the 70s.

the  watch is  purchased on ebay some day ago
It's arrived today
I'm not able to open caseback for verification ref.699 and calibre
(movement not have hacking function)
I will do my watchmaker as soon as possible.
I have box - warranty document and bracelet

warranty purchase date is 1963, HUM?? I bet it has had a dial replacement sometime after it was bought new. I owned an all original early 1970s white dial with push crown to set date feature, and plastic insert gray bezel,  it did NOT have that dial marking below 6:00. the mystery continues. :woohoo;

the hypothesis of the dial can be replaced is possible;
it is also my idea but research and study continue.........

the watch was finally opened
year 1963 the movement is 1624, and the ref.699  as warranty document
that's right
I also found the dial (black instead of white - but that's okay)
the dial have small  numbers on triangle (radium...i think) and is signed swiss

I still have a question....

hands (on the black dial  that I have found) have the  line... (2^type) .is ok?

What is the diameter of the dial?
If it is 25.4mm then you have dial for Zodiac 70 or early 70/72 no date.
Dial for 1624 is a bit smaller (several of 1/10mm). And the position of dial pins similar but they don't match.

I saw several 1624 with veined hands. Should be good.

My other concern. Hands for white dial usually are black of tempered steel.
Black dial should be with white metallic color. Changing dial from white to black, you want to change hands. I think...

this is the dial and the mov. cal 72
ref. 702-916. Serial # 1346001.
that I use for substitution

I do not know precise measures of dial today
I will know when  watch will be in  laboratory watchmaker for restoration
but now what do you think about it? Dial can be suitable?
Thank you

YuriyV

No, dial from cal. 72 will not fit 1624.  :#banghead

I do not know precise measures of dial today

Zodiac 1624 dial diameter - 24.8mm
Zodiac 71 (AS 1700/01) dial diameter - 25.4mm
Zodiac 70,72,70/72 dial diameter - 25.4mm

Dial leg layouts are different on all of three of them.

trader61

ok thanks a lot
I now have the right ideas
