I am trying to identify the case number on my GMT and I wanted to ask if the case back is snap on, or screw on??  Need to know this  so I don't jack my case.  I saw indentation marks by the 4 o'clock position, but there are quite a few scratches there too.

If you are referencing to vintage Zodiac GMT from 1960-70s, than all their cases are snap on. You need case opener like a small knife. Find thin recess, apply force straight. It should pop up.
If no luck, ask watchmaker to do this job. Otherwise there is a chance to damage the case.
