Looks like he forgot to post the image of the box.  My take is that he bought the box after already owning the watch.

Damn phone screen. Yeah, that could be it. I was thinking he was looking for a box, but maybe you are right.

Hm, something went wrong...... next try:

Had a moon phase already

What's going on here? Copied the whole text plus all links to the photos, hit the "preview" button, all thinks OK (photos were visible) then "post" - and half of the text and all photos vanished! No, I'm not operating from my phone, but from my PC.

Next try:

Had a moon phase already

No idea what's wrong - same thing again: First sentence is in, the rest isn't..... I give up for the time being.

Last try:

Had a moon phase already; now I landed a matching box what I consider to be an early one. I guess, the box is from the late 40s or early 50s. What do you think?

I think the box is correct for the watch, but I think the hands on the warch are from a later model. I cannot access the catalogs today, maybe someone else can and then weigh in.

Hands have been switched at some point, and arrow should have a red tip.

Cool box though, I do not know that I have ever seen one of those in person before  :sm3

I am wondering if the box might be for the earlier manual wind model of Triple Date Moonphase though?

It was a big deal for the model of 3DMP that you have to be an Automatic 3DMP, and I would have thought it would be mentioned on the box that it was.  Don't know if that is true, but might be possible considering on how they usually marked/promoted on boxes and materials.

Good point! Yes, "Automatic" isn't mentioned - so, yes, right, the box could (probably) be for the forerunner, i. e. the manual wind model.

The hands were changed at some point? Urrgs! Good (bad) to know that!

Not sure if they made the automatic designation on the box almost 70 years ago, but maybe. Could be.

I have not had a chance to look. Is this model in a catalog with these hands?

Hi evghenii,

thanks for posting your MP. Interesting to see identical hands on yours.

Should it be of help: SN of mine (case back) is 1282265; marked inside with "908" ; movement is a Zodiac 1402 (AS 1402N).

OK, I just had a chance to check the catalogs for a dial with the hands you both have. In every catalog that has that dial here are the hands. Your hands appear in the later 60's on the newer dial. The give away here is the art deco numerals. I think both of your 3DMPs have had the hands replaced with those from the later 60's models.

Just my opinion. Have a look at My Watches for 2 other examples, one where the hands were replaced and the other all original.

My opinion that hands are original. We obtain already several identical hours with the same replaced arrows.
