Moon phase ref 908, worth restoring?

Started by Drewski, April 21, 2021, 10:21:16 PM

This was my grandfather's watch. Dial is definitely rough, but internals seem to be in good condition. Is this something worth restoring? What might an average ballpark cost be for redoing or purchasing another dial? What's the value of this watch after restoration?

My intent is to keep the watch, but I wanted to get some insight before I made any decisions on restoring it or keeping it as is.

Once restored, will you wear it? It would make a fine family heirloom for sure. The dial will be very hard to find and will run you over $100 probably. Service would be $300-400 I would guess.

After restoration it could be worth as much as $1,000 to the right buyer.

The dial looks wearable, as on me. It definitely has character.

Sometimes folks just put them in a glass domed case and put them on the mantle Drewski. Still in the family and can still be passed on. But if you want a referral to BWG send me an email.
