Title: Men WILL putter about - Feb. 2005
Post by: Butch on August 28, 2009, 07:49:30 AM
Butch,
I've got one for your "Zodiacs that never were" page.
I have just finished my modern interpretation of my 60's
Sea Wolf. It took me quite a long time to make. Painting the minute hand and making the dial were the biggest pain. I'll send you a pic shortly.

Zodiac dive watch case and bezel (bead blasted)
Original Sea Wolf hands
1.5mm thick glass crystal
ETA 2824-2 movement
Generic screw down crown
MKII dial blank w/slightly enlarged and simplified 60's Sea Wolf pattern. (no minute markers though)

For better or worse, all the work was done myself. I appologize for the clarity (or lack thereof) of the pictures; the camera I used does not have macro focusing capability. The luminous material is Super Luminova, and after a charge is as bright as my Seiko or Citizen divers. If you wish, and the pic is good enough, put it on your "Zodiacs that never were" page. I would have liked to put the Sea Wolf logo on it, but it was well beyond my skill.

I stripped, painted, and lumed it using scaled up dimensions of a early Zodiac Sea Wolf dial. It is accurate to about 0.1mm.

I did all the work myself, and I'll never do it again.
Scott
