Hello all, first post here - been lurking a little but I would appreciate some advice on the state of this listing. I'm very taken with the old Olympos Automatics, but would like to avoid buying a lemon. Any insights would be hugely appreciated :)

Looks the picture in the 1966 catalog. It will need a crystal, crown, and service though.

You may want to check out http://www.zodiaccatalogs.com/ (http://www.zodiaccatalogs.com/) so that you never get hoodwinked.

Rather than start a new thread, I may as well hijack my existing one. I just have a quick question (that I may sort of end up answering myself here as I prattle on) about a (different) Olympos I recently obtained.

It's gone straight for a service and minor repair (cannon pinion issue I'm told), but I wasn't aware of the possibility of it having the quickset date function - though I was stumped on how to change the date wheel over without going forward 24 hours at a time, and while I did have it briefly earlier this week, the crown only seemed to come out one position - and now I'm just wondering in my lockdown impatience if it's likely that it is actually a quickset?

I'm also keen (just for the sake of OCD completeness) in trying to work out when it was made as accurately as I can. Or at least, maybe more specifically than "sixties".. I have the various numbers from the 6 and 12 positions on the outer case, and the inside of the back case. is there a way to date it using any of these? cheers in advance!

Kindly suggesting that using the search function here can answer questions like this one.

You should use the Zodiac "Dateographic" feature. Wind it past midnight to change the date, then back to 8:30p and back to midnight to use the "quick change". Of course, today it is much simpler to change the day and date, but this is how it worked on Zodiacs in the 60s and 70s.

As to your second question, no, but the dated catalogs can be found at http://www.zodiaccatalogs.com/ (http://www.zodiaccatalogs.com/)

Ahh yeah sorry I should've mentioned that I did search prior to posting but couldn't find what I was looking for, mainly cuz I wasn't sure what I was looking for.

Not beating a dead horse but searching for quickset returns a page of info and searching for quick set (it really is 2 words) returns 4 pages of info. Surprisingly, one is on the Watch Repair page. I had forgotten it was there when I did my search. Maybe you were inside a particular area when you tried it? Be sure to do the searching from the forum's home page to get all results though.

Again, presented as help and not admonishment. Thanks.
