Hi, This dial was not restored, just a cleaning during service as it was in really nice condition when sent in.

When hunting for an authentic Zodiac, check the serial number on the case back against the factory list; any mismatch often signals a replica. Also, look for the original "Z" logo stamped in the dial—modern copies sometimes use a stylized version that lacks the classic depth. If you're unsure, send a photo to our community and we'll help verify its provenance.

This mid‑70s model is a standout with its SST high beat movement. The crown pull-out for setting dates shows excellent precision and ease of use. Its accuracy makes it a great choice for collectors seeking reliable daily wear.

Wow!  This appears to be a really good job, restoring the lume in the triangles.

I realize that this thread is from 2024, but wanted to comment anyway.

It is heartening to read the OP's post and see his photographs.  I though I had read on an internet site that the Sea Wolf's lume could not be restored because the numerals were printed right on the lume surface as thw dial was originally finished at the factory.

Obviously, that is not so.

Quote from: Butch on September 03, 2026, 02:39:10 PMSorry, I read this, meant to come back, and did not. I actually owned that model once. I believe it is the predesessor to the automatic Olympus that first appears in the 1961 catalogs that I have. And that one had the painted hand on the rotating dial. The manual winds like that with the engraved dial are had to come by.

Another examle of how Zodiac did this was the Orbiter in the 60's with the 21,600 beat movement morphed into 1969's Astrographic, with the date moved from 3 to 12, and the hi-beat 36,000 SST movement added.

BWG, have you ever servied one of these?

I do not believe so.  I have serviced that caliber series in other watches, but as far as Olympos models go I think this exact reference is the only one I have never had in.  All other versions, including both Olympos SST models, have been in the shop at least a few times.

Hello,

i found the Zodiac Newlook model in "Revue internationale de l'horlogerie | 1960 | 5/12".

Another reference in journal "La Suisse Horlogère - Édition Internationale | 1960 | 2/4"

It seems that this model was exposed during the "BaselWorld" of 1960 (wich was named at this early period in french "la Foire suisse de l'horlogerie" or in german "Schweizer Uhrenmesse.
I can not find additional information

Regards Jean-Sébastien

Thank you for having a look Butch!

Apparently, the four-digit numeral on the bracelet does not help.  Internet investigation did not turn up anything for me either.

Sea Wolfs are hard to pin down. I did not know that solid lume hands could be had as late as 1965. One site dated the watch much later, claiming a low seven digit serial number placed the watch into the 1980s.

I agree with you.  I don't enjoy watch bracelets generally for daily wear, preferring the look and the feel of straps.  I maintain a strict rule around here to never wet watches at all.  I even take the divers off and pocket them before making a short dash through a rain shower to the car.

Still, I would really like to restore this bracelet and give it a run on the Sea Wolf. A kind gift from a forum friend deserves to be sported about on the Sea Wolf if it can be adjusted to fit an 8-inch wrist.

The watch serial number makes it pre-1965, but we knew that from the solid lume hand. Sorry, I got nothing on the band, maybe someone else will. Waiting until the service makes send to me to get the band done. Personally, without a wet suit on, I do not find them to be very comfortable myself.
