I when it arrived i saw how damaged the dial was :) Classic. Parts of the Zodiac text were missing. I started to look for parts, hands and dial. But unfortunately i could not find any reference pics of the same dial that i have with white numerals. The hands are also weird, havent seen sea wolfs with solid hands, the ones ive seen had lume between them. Do you guys think its a reprinted dial? The case number is 699. Ive added the crappy pics from ebay but i can take some better pics laterz.

You're right, crappy pics. Post a better one.
The hands are from a dress watch.
Yes, the hands are supposed to be broad dauphine hands, wonder where i can find these now :)
here are some better pics
The fonts look right on the dial so I will say not a redial. The fonts for the triangle markers do not look correct so I would say that someone had them redone, probably with new lume. Damned if I can figure out where the lume is though! Maybe they scraped them out and just put new numbers in without new lume? No idea why though!
BWG can have it re-dialed properly though, with lume. Or just the triangles maybe.
Thanks for the large pic, it helped!
Yes, thats actually very strange, i cant understand why somebody would reprint the indices, thats not the easies thing to do. Well, I will have to look for a new dial and hands, the dial does have a nice tropical patina but considering that the zodiac logo is damaged, the indices are wrong and the lume is missing i dont think its worth restoring it. Btw, do you have any info on the hand sizes? The dauphne hands that zodiac used sometimes appear on Ebay, im not sure about the pinison sizes though.

The dial without lume is perfectly fine. Not sure why they issued like in that configuration. But relatively large quantity on the market as spare dials and whole watches, date and no date, black and white allow to say it was a variety.
Really weird, havent seen a single reference image of a watch with the white indices without lume. But this dial looks great though, the "6" looks off center as mine though.

And we have one old topic about this here: http://www.vintagezodiacs.com/zforums/index.php/topic,2864.msg12237.html#msg12237 (http://www.vintagezodiacs.com/zforums/index.php/topic,2864.msg12237.html#msg12237)
All dauphin hands (vein and no vein) for Sea Wolf are compatible among all models and calibers.
Any you will find will fit.
are the numbers printed on the lume by the way?

Yes. On top of the lume.

On regular dial with lume applied, the numbers printed on top of it in black paint.
On these "irregular" dials, the numbers applied directly on dial paint inside triangles, using contrast paint. Black for white dial and white for black dial.
Received today among other Zodiac dials:
Yes, but that could mean that all dials have the numbers under the lume and have the lume printed on top after the lume has been applied. The "irregular" dials are just service dials with no lume applied? This is a divers watch after all, so lume is kinda mandatory. That could also explain why the numbers on the "irregular" dials are not centered, they arent meant to been seen because they are covered under the lume.

Check the catalogs.
Checking the catalogues wont answer my question mate. I was in touch with Zodiac, they gave me a contact person who services vintage models, maybe that person knows more about this.

I ran across several Sea Wolf dials with damaged lume on markers. There are no printed numbers underneath. Only on top.

May be.
Is this only typical for dials that have Swiss T 25 the marking? I see some other differences in the other print as well when i compare other dials. The text Automatic is more lined and the kerning between the characters in Zodiac is different. Do you have more info about these dials from your source, where he or she aquired them?

I saw this variety for T 25 dials only.

Spare dials come mainly from Switzerland. From new old stocks. Different suppliers. No details revealed from the sellers. Probably they simply don't want to disclose details.
Thx for the info mate. I will let you know if I find more info about this. These dials are really rare, maybe I will keep mine in that case and just get correct hands :)
