Title: Help with model identification
Post by: Denison on December 26, 2020, 05:21:59 PM
I am the new proud owner of a vintage Zodiac! I've wanted one for years and have never actually followed through with purchasing one. My sister gifted this to me for Christmas this year and I absolutely love this watch.

The number on the inside of the case back is 572-756. I am assuming the movement is a caliber 57.

Might anyone have any information about the model, reference, etc? It is a manual wind watch with a sub seconds hand without hacking.

Thanks!

Early 60's dress watch, a Hermetic Custom it looks like. Yes, the movement is a caliber 57. Was it serviced?

Thanks for the information!

It has not been serviced as of yet. I noticed that you have a "watch guy" you trust. I am going to send you an email shortly for their contact information.

Thanks Butch, for connecting me with the Zodiac specialist! I am having it sent out this week to be gone over.

Do you happen to have any information about the Zodiac Caliber 57? I have not been able to find anything online (including ranfft.de) about the movement. The movement appears to be made by A. Schild - though I am not having any luck finding the internal AS model designation for the Zodiac Caliber 57.

You might try BWG's corner for that.

Looks like a Font 76 to me (FHF).  Zodiac used the Font 76 and Font 72 in some of their manual winds in that era before they started to use AS nearly exclusively.
