vintage sea wolf

I found a sea wolf that was my dads. He has been gone for 26 years. So the watch has been sitting. I wound it up about a month ago and it hasnt dropped 10 seconds since! Amazing. But, I know absolutely nothing about it. Can someone here be able to give me an approx date of manufacture, value, how rare it is (or isnt). Thank you in advance. john

  nice 70s sea wolf, not rare BUT desirable model. if it has been sitting that long it REALLY NEEDS A SERVICE if you are going to put it "back in service" and wear it. it is very hard on a watch running dry and can do damage. we have a great watchmaker who does our member repairs, he IS THE zodiac guru. i cant see the bracelet enough to tell if it is original, please show more of it, and is there any writing on the clasp, ie mfg name etc? welcome to our forum, there are a bunch of great people on here and i am sure you will be getting a lot of response. can you get better pics? this model is bad about the yellow ring around the dial fading. i believe there was also an orange trim model, some are shown in the gallery.

That is the orange trim model which is now fading to yellow Jon. I also cannot figure out why it has the wrong hands. Perhaps they were replaced during a service.

Thanks for the info. I will charge my camera and get better pictures. It doesn't have the original bracelet, but I found one on eBay. I should have it in a couple days. The bracelet is in great shape, he says it's tight for it's age, and looks correct to me from the pictures I have seen on the web. There is a signature on the inside of the bracelet but I don't have it in front of me.  And the hands aren't original? That's strange.  I will post pics asap. Thanks again for the quick response.

And I forgot to ask, how much would I be looking at to have it overhauled, or serviced? And how long would the turn-around be? Would it be worth it to have the dial re-painted so it's not so yellow, or would that be worse than keeping it original? I would like to do the best thing for the watch because of the sentimental value it has to me and would like to wear it as long as I can. Sounds like there is a wealth of information here so I really appreciate it.

Less than $100 for the service, more if parts are needed. Send the band with it and it will get cleaned up to. I think my guy has the right hands for that too, you can ask him. Email me if you need his info.

For now, do not have the dial redone, it will look like sh|t. Some day one of us will find a redialer that can do a Zodiac justice, just not today.
