After 20 years in a drawer I have a renewed appreciation for my watch. After reading some posts, I am now wondering what the serial # on my watch might tell me. It is 2118617. I will post a photo. What are these worth today?

welcome to our forum, it is always great to sign up a new member! you have a VERY nice 70s sea wolf, watch ebay sales to get an idea of value. if you are going to use it get it serviced FIRST, damage will be done if it runs while dry. we have a great watchmaker we all use, he is a zodiac expert. see the repair heading of the forum. all records were lost when zodiac changed hands so many times in the late 80s and again into the 90s so serial numbers dont mean much. hope this helps, you have been bitten by the zodiac bug and there are a lot of members who have a wealth of info!!    JON P

Welcome to the forum Jeffers.  I have the same model Super Sea Wolf, but without that bracelet (yours looks like it's an original).  I can't tell you off the bat what one is worth right now, but your best bet is to search ebay for those, by completed auctions, and see what they sold for there.  Also use the search engines at Elitedealseeker.com and Watchrecon.com to search the major sales boards, the majority of those never make it to ebary.

FYI, most examples of that model have damage to the bakelite bezel insert, and very seldom have an original bracelet.  An undamaged insert and original bracelet would bring you higher dollar value (I've never seen a replacement bezel or insert for sale).  Also be aware that the crystal is almost impossible to replace, because the minutes chapter is actually NOT on the dial, but is a decal on the underside of the cyrstal.

From what I've read, there is a chance that model could date from as early as 1968-9, but most likely is early to mid 1970s.

So congrats on owning a coveted vintage Zodiac dive watch; post us some more photos when you have a chance.

Mine, on a tropic style SUB strap (a replacement, but correct for that model):

John, thanks for the great info. I purchased this watch, in 1969 or maybe 1970. I used it while surfing and limited scuba diving. I moved away from the coast in 1981 and wore it less, it has average wear. I had it cleaned around 1989 and then it pretty much went into soft storage. Good info about the bezel, band and crystal. The bezel is about as tight as when new. What I hate is how the crystal is scratched but I guess you have to expect that with such a heavy watch. As you can see you got me working on cleaning it better. I am toying with selling it, I don't want to but times are ruff. I have looked on ebay but all I've seen are sales ads or parts for sale for this model. I will check out those links you suggested. I am going to pay more attention to it in the future and keep checking the forum for news.
Thanks again
