Found my great grandfathers watch. Trying to figure out what year and model
It might be? And if it could potentially be worth anything. I had it serviced and replaced the gold strap and planning on keeping it. Just curious to learn more about it.
(It’s the same watch just, replaced the strap with a new leather one on pic 2)

It is in the 1966 catalog. My second Zodiac was that model in stainless steel with a white dial. I liked its thinness and my local watchmaker at the time raved about its movement.

Unfortunately is as simply a manual wind dress watch. Not much market for them I am afraid. But it will make a fine family heirloom to pass on.

This, the name issue, is so interesting Butch.

I have enjoyed your catalogue site for a while now, what a treasure trove of information. One thing I have noted is that the US catalogues differ from the continental ones. One thing is model names - and I am relatively convinced these names were particular to the US market. Never heard of them before, never saw them in my fathers Zodiac business or in any catalogues - and they are clearly anglosaxon. If you bear in mind that Zodiac was at heart French-speaking and supplied a world wide market with watches with a "Swiss" identity naming models so that they resonated with a North American culture is not logical either. So my question is: Could these model names in reality be Trauners work (the US importer of Zodiac)?

very Interesting Grossisten! Would you happen to know what the European model name might be for this one then ?

Search Trauner in the forum to find out why! The North America catalogs normally had Trauner's info on the last page.

Svenning, no, I'm afraid I dont have more info. Butch'es catalogue site is the best source of information available. I wish my father was still with us he could have added so much knowledge about Zodiac. I can add though that if your grandfathers watch was bought in Denmark it was with 99% certainty sold by one of my fathers watchmaker-customers and has thus passed through my fathers hands at one point. Had it been bought ten years later it might even have passed through my hands as I often helped my father unpack shipments from the factory in Switzerland. I strongly recommend the catalogue site as you may dive deeper into the world of Zodiac (much of the info is also available on this site).
