Title: Not sure if this was a good deal or not
Post by: davec on November 09, 2009, 09:40:32 PM

Funky story, could be a complete basket case but still a full auto chrono.  Think it should have a sapphire crystal but if so, pretty beat up.

I rolled the dice on that one.  I'll let you know how it looks when it arrives   :-\

  8) ;)this new look to the site is taking some getting used to!! i have seen ones in a lot worse condition!! guys story WAS kinda funky--i dont ever want to have him work on any of my watches. i think this one has potential-physical apperance not too bad-a new crystal will make a BIG difference.dial looks good. maybe it is nothing major with the movement. hope that funky bracelet is long enough--the weird way it fastens to the watch makes it imopssible to replace with anothr bracelet. i have a nice old RADO automatic in the drawer now with weird band attachment!! keep us posted.  JON

I looked, as I think the local watchmaker I go to could probably fix the movement or replace it, but thought it would be too hard to buff up that exterior, it looked like it had a hard life.   Looked like a good deal though, if the repairs weren't too much.

I have good word from Butch that his watch guy can service this to look very nice.

I will send it off as soon as it arrives and take before/after photos.

Does anyone like the new smileys ;D

I tried taking good photos, the crystal is scratched up for sure, but otherwise, it looks pretty good.
It does not work, so here are the before photos:

So today I buy a Gold Point quartz, in order to get replacement parts for the chrono, what I needed was more links for the band.  The size of both watches seems the same, and the band looks the same on both, have my fingers crossed
that it works.   :-\

Just got the Gold Point Chron back today from Butch's watch guy.

The stem/crown issue took some time to figure out.  A custom part was created by BWG and
I am happy to report this thing looks brand new and runs great!

My photos do not capture the watch, but it's the best I could do with a video camera.

With all the money I pay you to provide this web site you should have a Nikon Wolf!

So, does this mean that BWG will make custom parts for anyone?

OK, OK, just kidding!

I used to have a Leica digital until the new years incident in Florida.

Do not drink too much, go out on a boat with camera and phone on you and fall in the ocean.
Salt water and electronics do not party together.

BWG, I don't know if he will do custom parts for everyone, but I could not be happier with this working and restored from the dead.
