Hi everybody,
I'm the proud owner of a Zodiac Glorious which I would like you to help me identify. The watch is missing its caseback, the movement is in a bit of a rough shape, its crown is certainly not the original one, the gold platting has worn off around some parts, but the face of the watch looks really good and, most important, its ticking. Fortunately I was able to find a caseback witch fits nicely and whose markings can be easily brushed off making it "generic."
Also, could anybody tell my how much is something like this worth?

It is from the 1950's. I would think the value is not very much give its condition.
Thanks for the info. What do you think, should I invest $30 in it to have it serviced or should I rather sell it for parts? With the servicing my total investment would be somewhere around $45.
If you like it, why not? Sounds cheap enough to me.
Here is mine, in Automatic, in the original box with the original band. Pretty much mint.

Not sure it would be worth much in parts. It looks as though it sat in the sea for a while--much evidence of corrosion that has been sort-of polished off in the movement. And the case looks as though the lip on the crown-side back has been broken off. I don't really know what parts would be salvageable as parts.
But if it runs reasonably well, it's probably worth more as a working watch than as parts.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to the poor watch. The sea is pretty far away from where it was bought and where it most probably lived its life. So I have no idea what might have corroded it like that.
On the other hand, the lip is broken not only on the crown side but also on the opposite so my guess is that someone tried to pry it open with a knife or something. Perhaps this is it is missing its caseback for surely that amount of force bend it and made it unusable.
However, I still think the watch is gorgeous and will try to restore it the best I can. Disregarding the crystal, the face its mint condition.
