I never saw a GMT or Sea Wolf metal bezel painted. I thought only the bakelite bezels had this theme.
Maybe it was right before they switched over to the bakelite.
Sure looks original. Look how the numbers are painted black on the bottom half and not on the top half. Very cool!

They did make that model at one point, it is original. Take a look at the manual posted here.

you seldom see one of these that still has any of the paint left on them! another not so great zodiac bezel idea.

Some also had a brushed finish on top and shiny finish on the bottom, eliminating the need for paint.
