My mother gave me this watch over the weekend. It was her grandmothers.
It still works and the back has a hinge to open it up. Here are the pics if anyone can
identify this or give me more info. Thanks
ETA: Tried to take better photos
??? sorry, i no nothing about pocket/pendant watches.can you tell who the movement mfg is? i have a good collector friend who is a pocket watch guru.
I can not tell who the movement is from.
I just took another macro shot of the marking on the movement.
AF RS and then is also has Made in Switzerland on the movement.
Well, it is 9k gold so definitely from England (9k is strictly English, and sometimes showed up in canadian made pieces due to their relationship with England), shown with the case marking of .375. As for the movement, from what I can see it is a common Swiss Ebauche, may be marked with the maker's name on the dial side. Looks to be reasonable quality with jewels in the double digits and a nice finished pattern on the bridges. As for the markings, A is advance (F = Faster), and R is retard (S=slower) to lengthen or shorten the hairspring when adjusting the timing of the watch. Looks to have a very interesting "telephone" style dial. Would be a nice wearable watch for dress occassions, and nice that it is solid gold.
:-[ :-[ wow--thanks ultra, i am em-bare-assed,when i looked at the photos the first time i thought it was a pocket/pendant watch due to the thick case. i didnt even notice the string band. very beautiful ladies watch with a different dial.
Thanks Ultra-Vintage! Great info you have supplied.
I'll send it off to BWG to see how he can make it look.
Thanks again.

No problem. I am sure that it will look really sharp when you get it back!
