Triple Date Moonphase movements question.

Thank you for letting me join the forum!

Really hoping for some help here.

When going through my late grandad's belongings I have found a beautiful triple date moonphase Zodiac... that's empty. There is no movement inside.

I want to get it up and running as a suprise for my Dad, but I've seen so many conflicting things online about what movement i should be looking for.

I have done some projects for my friends and myself, but I always started by knowing what movement should be inside the watch!

I have a list from hours of scouring the internet of what movements it could be, and would really appreciate some help.

Please help. Have I misunderstood and I could actually use any of these movements? That seems very unlikely, but they do look very similar! I just don't want to mess this up.

Adding some details.

The case width is 34mm

Case thickness is 10mm

I'm guessing it is from around the 1960s from looking at family photos

Inside of the case back should be a reference number. It is what we want to see.

There was no back when I found it. I'll try and go through more of my Grandad's things to see if I can find it. Clearly he was fiddling around with it, so maybe I'll find the original movement too!

As YuriyV wrote, we will ask for pictures, without them only this much is known:

First generation :
- movement hand wind ref. 905 cal.12S or cal.1100
- movement automatic ref. 908 cal.1402

Second generation :
- movement automatic ref. 742-908 cal.74 silver case
- movement automatic ref. 743-908 cal.74 gold plated case

Thank you everyone for helping!

It's a 742-908 with silver case, so I'll go on the hunt for the 74 movement.
