Query re Sea Wolf dial

Hi,
I just found this great site.  I usually collect Rado watches but have been interested in Zodiac Sea Wolves of late.  I got this Sea Wolf but am unsure of the dial.  It is a dark brown, with some mottling.  The insidee of the date frame is also brown.  The silver printing is very crisp and clean and looks original and is complete.  The mottling seems to be under the printing..  I was wondering if this is a re-dial, or if this model ever came with a brown dial.  Also I suppose it could have been black and it deteriorated.  Has anyone here ever seen this effect?  Excuse the quik photo.  Much thanks,

Welcome to the Site.

Your dial looks to be water damaged.  That should be a black dial.  The bezel, hmm looks almost too good, could
be a redial.  The experts will be along to tell you exactly what is wrong.

You could buy a new old stock dial for that on ebay, they come up every month and when they are finally sold out, they will
be gone I think.  Once you get the dial changed out, I would have that watch serviced by Butch's Watch Guy (BWG), click on Watch Repair on the navigation on the top.  BWG does the best job on Zodiac watches and is known internationally.

Once you get the new Dial, then you have to search for an original band for that watch and you will be set.  That watch
is not the same without the original Champion Zodiac band.  It took me almost 5 years to find the original band for my Sea Wolf,
but when they were reunited, the watch was complete and wears better, looks better and you will have a piece of Zodiac history.

  welcome to the site, its always great to welcome a new member. you HAVE been bitten by the zodiac bug, you will love it ! the black dials were infamous for turning brown with sun/heat and or water damage ! what does the movement look like? usually it will show some spotting and discoloration from water getting in. even after a professional service these veterans are never dive watches ever again, DONT get em wet. for that use get a new seiko, citizen or luminox!!
