That is a 1970's Zodiac dress watch. The case number is inside the back and the serial number is between the lugs under the 6.

I would presume most here were spending the holiday weekend with the families.

General Zodiac Discussion / Help me identify this watch
Last post by hrello - July 04, 2025, 03:27:51 PM
Hello folks,

I've been trying to identify this Zodiac watch: https://imgur.com/a/CntARef. I got it from my late grandfather, who wore it for more than 30 years, I believe.

I can't find any reference number on it, and my knowledge of Zodiac watches is very limited.

Hope you guys can help me out!

Thanks Butch.

The ebay prices are pretty wild out there.

I saw this Zodiac on the Internet... / Re: Refinished Sea Wolf Dial?

That's legit, but it is for th two toned model with a gold bezel. I think the price is asinine.

Is this a refinished dial? The numbers are a little tight in the indices and are crisper than I see in most examples I have seen. Also its the first example I have seen of lume glowing on a Sea Wolf dial. I have some tritium lume watches that glow briefly after light exposure. It is my understanding that tritium lume is also mixed with a phosphorescent compound.

Hello, just found this forum. Very happy to have the resource, thank you!

First, let me say it is your watch and you can do what you want with it. I know a guy once that did similar things to enhance the looks for himself. Shoot, I did it with a GMT and a Sea Wolf.

But understand, this is called a marriage, and is all but worthless to a collector. If done, the value of the watch is simply for the parts to fix others.

Is it morally acceptable to restore vintage watches to a condition that may misrepresent their original state? Given that restoration can enhance value and appeal, where should we draw the line between preservation and alteration? What impact does this have on collectors' perceptions and the integrity of the vintage watch market?
